Get out of your head and into your body...
Rolfing®, also called Structural Integration, is a form of manual therapy created by Dr. Ida Rolf. It focuses on connective tissue (fascia) manipulation, movement, body awareness and education. Rolfing SI has the ability to dramatically transform a person's posture, structure and emotional well-being!
Please reach me at lindseyfwatson@gmail.com with any questions about Rolfing.
Rolfing has the ability to dramatically alter a person's posture and structure. Rolfing can resolve discomfort, release tension and alleviate pain. Rolfing aims to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body. The genius of the work rests on Dr. Rolf's insight that the body is more at ease and functions most effectively when its structure is balanced in gravity.
EVERYONE! Anyone dealing with pain or postural issues, athletes, anyone who wants to understand their body more. Rolfing can help anyone who is open to this transformational work. The more open you are to the process and the more you listen and tune into your body, the greater results you will receive.
Rolfing is different from most forms of bodywork because it focuses on improving the organization of the entire structure. Fascia envelopes every part of the body down to individual muscle fibers, so truly it is all connected. By looking at the whole body and how each part interacts with others, it helps get to the root of the problem, instead of solely focusing on the place that hurts or feels stiff. Both Rolfing and massage therapy activate the parasympathetic nervous system that promotes relaxation.
No, Rolfing does not need to be painful. The pressure is adjusted to suit the needs of the client. It might be uncomfortable at times on sensitive areas, but Rolfers aim to keep you relaxed. If your body is tensing from pain it will have a harder time releasing that tension.
Fascia is the largest sensory organ in your body! It's connective tissue that covers your whole body and envelopes all of your organs, muscles and joints. It's what keeps everything in and keeps you standing tall.
My passion is helping my fellow humans feel better in their body, live a more pain free life, and return to the wisdom of their mind-body connection. Bringing more awareness to your body means leaving a session feeling more embodied and rooted in your truth, your authentic self!
Rolfing came into my life after realizing I wanted to cultivate deeper connections with others through service, by helping them discover their innate ability to heal themselves.
I grew up playing sports and always had an active lifestyle. This helped me find creative release through movement. Have you ever taken a shot in basketball and were so in tune with the rhythms of your body that it put you in a meditative state? What about running, dancing, etc.? Even just listening to your breath? Rolfing can help nurture this awareness through a holistic approach that focuses on the whole body, it's all connected.
My goal is to help you keep feeling great, physically + emotionally, so you can keep doing the things you love for as long as possible!
I'm continuously fascinated with the human body and how much it does for us, unconsciously. Now, imagine how much the body is capable of when we tune into it and consciously connect. I invite you to take a moment and thank your body for everything it does for you everyday!
I live in Evergreen, CO with my life partner, our dog son, and plant babies.
